Re: Covid-19 Vaccinations

I received a call from my GP's surgery today - they booked me in for the jab at 1145 on Saturday 30th January at my local Civic Centre, which is rarely used at the moment and which has a large car park, although I'll probably walk there and back .....

Re: Covid-19 Vaccinations

My dad had his yesterday, cant remember if I already told you, anyway he has had no side effects whatsoever and he is absolutely fine. He had the pfizer and I was disappointed to hear it only has a 30 to 33% protection rate. Does anyone know what the Oxford vaccine protection rate is?

Glad your Dad's OK Queenie.

They are saying the Oxford one is around 70.4% effective i believe, though maybe that forecast will change in time, like the Pfizer one did?

I think you need the second vaccine to boost the protection.

I wonder how effective the vaccines are with the new strains of Covid Lion Queen....
We need a new vaccine every year with the annual mutations of the flu.

I've also wondered that Foxy, I remember when I had my flu jab last year the nurse told me it protects me from 4 different strains of flu but the pneumonia jab that I had protected me from 20 different strains. I suppose they can't stop all strains but if we at least have some protection from one or two strains it's something
