In a democracy, at least in theory, we the people run the country. Every five years we elect the politicians who we decide would be the best ones to run the country the way we want it to be run.

In a 'civil service-ocracy', however, we the people have absolutely no control of the way the country is run.

Every five years we elect the politicians we want, who have absolutely no power over the civil service. The civil service are then at liberty to run the country as it sees fit and no doubt to its own personal benefit.

Yes, an uncontrolled and unaccountable civil service would result in the loss of our democracy, such as it is.

We need more Priti Patels!
I and many more judging by what I see (as I post here) would agree with you.

Remarkably the bullies are those doing their darndest to get rid of the likes of Priti and to stop the likes of me re-posting the considerable support she receives.
They see no hypocrisy whatsoever in their balatant yet futile attempts to silence that which they so obviously dislike.

But it isn't and that is probably one reason why Labour are not in power.

No chance of that though is there.

I wouldn't like it, no, but if the majority of the electorate chose to vote for them then democracy would have been maintained.

Those same people would very soon realise their mistake and, hopefully, would rectify it the next time.
I admit that there are many rather stupid people in this country and that is what the Labour party relies upon.

Look, for example, at the election of the Mayor of Londonistan. People are now realising what a silly mistake they made. Moreover, they moan about it, but in reality they caused the problem themselves!

Anythen else is pure supposition.
Was she or was she not advised in August 2019 to adjust the manner in which she treated people?
Was it intentional after August 19' or was it negligent or just ingrained behavior? Is that your defence? You do talk some rubbish.

You're splitting hairs to try and make bullying acceptable .. whereas what you are achieving is to tout the view that bullying is acceptable in certain circumstances, or perhaps even mandatory when it comes to propping up and protecting a PM who is currently losing popularity, is accused of indecisiveness and making bad decisions when he does stop dithering and does more U-turns than a snakes & ladders board.

This whole mess is as much about Boris as Patel, the same as Cumming and Boris, and Carrie and Boris.
I don't envy him with Covid and Brexit to deal with but when this is all over I' think we'll soon see the back of Boris, he'll either be burnt out or ousted by those who twitch his strings.
Heaven protect us though from Starmer and his dysfunctional delinquents.

Re: Senior Home Office official QUITS after vicious rows with Priti Patel

Patel does like to make the most of her positions:

https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/11/2...dren-explored/

Alex Sawyer has been Home Secretary’s Priti Patel husband for almost two decades.

He is a marketing consultant for the American financial firm Nasdaq NXL. Nasdaq ranked the second most successful in stock exchanges, just behind NYSE, New York Stock Exchange.

However, Patel’s husband is seemingly a workaholic, as he has undertaken more jobs than just being a marketing consultant in one of the world’s leading stock exchange firms.

When Priti Patel was International Development Secretary, her office was run by husband Alex Sawyer from February 2014 until June 2017.

That seems to have lasted until it became known that Patel was using her staffing allowance to pay her husband up to £25,000 for his part-time job. After the elections of 2017, it became mandatory for staff members to not be “related” to politicians in any way.
Not for the first time has Patel's aberrant behaviour caused rules to be changed to prevent further abuse .....

Read the post above:
"We also sought to consider the role of the Civil Service in helping to prevent breaches of the Ministerial Code" (Page 3)
Rutnam did not do that.
At no time was Prtiti advised that her actions had been seen in any other light than acceptable until the complaint - by Rutnam, who himself said "the important thing is to try and prevent problems arising in the first place, rather than investigating them after they have surfaced” (Page 7)

There is your negligence.
And I am splitting nothing - this is on record from official sources.
It isn't my decision either.
Nor yours.
Nor is it the media's.
It is the responsibility of the person elected to govern and if you dislike it so much, vote him out next GE.
It didn't work very well in 2019 for those that were still desperate but you never know.

A word in your lug .... if you're insisting I stick to the topic don't keep up the 'woe me, I is being bullied' dirge as all it does it lend me to believe I overestimated you.
We get it ... you and Priti are victims.
