I have heard it said that salt stops snails and slugs in their in tracks - do you think it would work on this lot? Especially if we allowed them to reach the door - then dropped a couple of tons of rock salt on them.
Sadly this is true Tabby, dead snails do indeed move faster than this lot,
AND snails leave less of a snotty trail behind them, too.

You can buy backs of the stuff at Home Bargains in powder form. Add some to a pan of cold water, bring to the boil while whisking, then simmer until it thickens up. Chuck some cooked chicken into the pan along with some straight to wok noodles and heat through. Eat the lot from the pan (saves washing up
