Re: Attorney-General gets Standing Ovation

I guess that couldn't find a man willing to insult people which is quite nice IMO

This wasn't done to make a point other than she wanted to insult Muslims IMO

Yes but Pauline Hansen as an MP had the right to be there .
Another person ( a man) may not have had .

She has the right to wear anything she likes into Parliament .

If she had come dressed as a nun would he have made the same speech I wonder ?

The fact is that no religion has the right not to be offended

I agree. Does that mean if a muslim wore western clothes they would be insulting Christians?

Wearing anyone else's clothes that you wouldn't usually wear is either fancy dress or making fun. Parliament isn't usually done in fancy dress so only one other option.

So would it be ok to wear one in fancy dress?

Depends on the company you keep personally I'd hope my friends had better taste.

I'm not a fan of making fun or dressing in fancy dress in any way that upsets people. There are so many great costumes you can wear why take a chance you might hurt someone ?

They do wear western clothes, underneath the burqa, apparently. The burqa is simply there for hiding under and no doubt used many times in many places for criminal activities as women wearing such garments are the untouchables. I don't agree with the burqa one bit, whether she did right or wrong, is for debate but it's certainly brought the question into the forefront .

Do we condemn gay people who dress up as nuns in parade s
If we dressed up as as Amish would that offend their sensibilities ?

Why would a liberal government support a article of clothing
NOTE NOT a religious item of clothing .
That symbolises subjugation of women .
