The State Opening of Parliament.

Hi

Just watching it.

Boris is beaming but Corbyn is scowling, he looks so distainful and aloof.

He really is an arrogant git.

The Queen is looking very frail and had a little stumble getting up the steps.

Whether you agree with the Monarchy or not, we do do Pageantry well.

Saw just a wee bit, seems an awful fuss with all their strange customs and some of their outfits, hhhmmmm. Bet it costs a small fortune to do this each time.

Re: The State Opening of Parliament.

I’m not surprised Corbyn was looking grim-faced - he’s a Republican attending a Royal Command - and has just lost an election big-time - he is now a ghost at the feast and must know nearly everyone can’t wait for him to disappear.

Johnson, on the other hand, couldn’t stop grinning, despite the solemnity of the occasion - he looked a right smug git.

There didn’t seem much pageantry in this Opening of Parliament - a very stripped back affair compared to the usual.

What a disaster!
What a PR disaster!

Though he might be disappointed with the GE result you would think that The Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, and supposedly a leading politician, would have realised that he is a part of Parliamentary Tradition and being watched by the whole world, and acted accordingly
Even Emily Thornberry managed to put on a brave face and have a bit of a chat

Instead he had, as my old boss used to say "a face like a cracked piss - pot"

Let's face it ..... if the only option HRH has is either to keep "working" or go and live with poor old Phil, it's a no-brainer- hang on in there Lizzie and save us from Charles!

Re: The State Opening of Parliament.

A face like a cracked piss pot!..hahahahahahahaha. LOve that one. Here a couple favourites are.."mate you look like a bastard on father's day"..or.. "He's walking around with a head like a beaten favourite" Both apt in Corbum's case. But seriously, regardless and despite what the citizens of her own country think of her, The Queen is still very popular here. But she is popular.. as a person..Not as a head of state. But as for all this palaver, the general attitude is, Yes there is a place for English pageantry, pomp and glory and all that goes with it. And that place is England. It looks more than ridiculous being carried out anywhere else. And always did in my opinion. But it's colourful and curious. Good TV for some.
