EU Offering Turkey Over 6 Billion to block immigrants.

The Daily Telegraph, today, has a story that von der Leyen was ready to pay Ankara more than the 6 billion euros, it pledged in 2016 as part of the EU-Turkey migrant deal.

Glad we're out!

Surely, they could send the migrants all home and pay them the billions, as some sort of salary, to stay where they are!

I wonder if that just pays for those who are there today?

Or is it going to be annual?

Maybe they should grant Turkey membership?

Surely, they cannot imagine that paying Turkey 6 billion Euros will be the end of it.

The EU must be fully conversant with the concept of blackmail!

What Turkey will go on to demand from them doesn't bear thinking about.

As has been said, we are fortunate to be leaving. Let the EU sort out its own problems. They've given us plenty of problems up to now. Serves them right!

I wonder how Solasch feels about this development.

Isn't Merkel doing another humanitarian stint?
Offering to take in children and the vulnerable to Germany.
You can't belief it after the last fiasco.

I wonder if any other Countries have been bribed, as a way of "re-routing" immigrants?

After posing the assumption the EU would pay more, the telegraph should have reported on the outcome of erdogan's demands for more money. Here is such a report: https://www.france24.com/en/20200310...nt-on-migrants

Von der leyen said the EU was considering taking in up to 1,500 child refugees to ease pressure on overwhelmed camps on greek islands facing a new wave of arrivals from turkey. Germany, france, portugal, luxembourg and finland have offered taking some. Britain is soon to follow.
