Re: How are all our furry members coping ...

Luckily I trimmed Chloe last week so her coat is short.
She spends most of the day laying under a fan. I take her a walk in the fields in the early morning then again through the village after dark .

I have a cold pad which I wrap in a blanket and she lays on that .

Coco is laying down next to the Street Door.

She has just been out in the garden but soon came in.

Kodi is struggling, poor thing, I'm ice cubing his water and he's drinking plenty thankfully.

Tonight I soak a towel in cold water and put that round him, he loved it. I read it somewhere and thought how I would try that, glad I did.

Kodi is like Max Bes, he's hanging around the laminate flooring areas and under the fan. Here is a picture of him trying to keep cool.

I didn't know you had a dog LQ. Is Kodi a Maltese? He's adorable.

Re: How are all our furry members coping ...

Teddy has been in the house near the fan most of the day and the cats have been lounging in the shadiest spots of the garden. I took him for a walk about 8pm this evening even though it was still humid and pretty hot IMO. I don't think waiting would have made much difference. Despite the heat he was just as enthusiastic as ever to go walkies.

I was just looking at Tabby's link and although I have tried putting ice into drinking bowls etc. the pets don't seem to like them. I can just imagine buying these, offering them to "her and her majesties" and the feline madams walking off looking disdainfully at me with that little disgusted shake of a tail....

I always get the two breeds mixed up! One of these days I will educate myself about the differences.

He is lovely and they are such a cute breed with so much personality. Lol @ Bichon fries! I hope that it's cooled down for him tomorrow.

I'm wondering how Teddy would react to a cold wet towel. Just going to find out .....

You can be forgiven for mixing the breeds up, they do look very similar.

Let me know how Teddy gets on, hope he likes it as much as our Kodi did

Well he did not protest. Seemed to like it and was quite happy to stand there. He then went off in the garden to explore under a hedge! I guess at this hour they are catching up on all they missed out on in the day.

Re: How are all our furry members coping ...

I started loading up the car earlier, ready for going home early tomorrow (a day earlier, to beat the rain and storm predicted for Saturday), then took Holly for her toilet walk. As I tied up the poo bags I could hear thunder in the distance so chivvied her back, but we stopped to talk to some villagers sitting out on their bench, with a few dogs, and I watched a bit of lightning. We got in just in time, as it started raining.

The rain and storm have been going on for some time now. I had hoped for a quick wee visit for her, but am not sure she’ll want to. It gets very dark along the pavement away from the one street light, unless I can persuade her to go in the garden. However, when I opened the back door after the walk, for fresh air, she scampered up the steps to the grass but then scampered back when she realised it was raining.

Hello, the telly’s gone off! Needed to turn it back on.
