There's no delight in Germany's recession but there is a sense of fatalism in that We knew Europe will suffer, We told you that Europe will suffer and They just wouldn't listen!

Perhaps if the EU had been more amenable to the needs of the UK we could have avoided all of this unpleasantness...

It's only children that think a 6.5% drop in manufacturing us a slight dip.

Grown ups call it "going into recession"

Recession in any country is never a laughing matter. Too many families suffering for it to ever be treated as a joke. So your insinuation that anyone on here delights in hearing the news about Germany's economy in serious trouble is out of order. I don't think there is one of us at our age who hasn't gone through a recession and the heartbreak that accompanies it, so we would have to be pretty hard-hearted to mock.

However, the feeling here is that this was something that was inevitable.
If the EU had acted sensibly during negotiations instead of like children throwing a tantrum because someone has taken their sweeties off them, a no-deal Brexit would have been one less worry for them.

17.4 million, plus I am sure, now many many more, want out!
The sooner the EU stop being so intransigent in their hope that our own moronic politicians will put a stop to it, the sooner we can leave and all get on with our lives, whatever is thrown at us.

Your grasp of reality is very small. The EU has been waiting for you to leave ever since 2017. They made up the balance of your remaining debt (with a 2 year transition period 39 bln,), together with you drew up the contours of future relations (the political declaration).
And then waited for you to step out on march 29. For several internal reasons you were unable to exit, and got an extension to settle your inland business. Now it seems you actually have gathered your courage and step out on october 31. And about time it is, the drag has been long enough. Any longer and you could be termed the drag queen of europe.

Remainers should be lobbying the EU for a deal not just the government.

You mean, let you keep all the benefits, but no obligations? The unpleasantness is all yours.
