A good Red Leicester in a chunky real-bread sarnie with loads of sweet piccalilli, or toasted with (more than) a few generous splashes of Worcester sauce.

I do not understand the appeal of mozzarella....

extra mature cheddar is quite nice, port salou, camembert, caerphilly (hard to find these days), kiri, ricotta, marscapone as a cake ingredient.

Yes, absolutely. Rhian knows what the good stuff is. Boursin and flavored crackers or crostini with fresh veggies on the side.
PS: with very little effort you can make your own Boursin cheese. I do.
