Re: Windows 10 - February 11, 2020 - KB4532693

Saw this thread about a week ago, chose to ignore it, updated both my machines and not had a problem. If something's not right, you automatically get sent more update, a patch or whatever. That's the nature of 21c. computing. Isn't it?

That's my feeling too. I certainly have had no problems with letting updates take place as they arise.

M$ has a legion of beta testers who rigorously test updates before they are unleashed so I suspect those adversely affected by the aforementioned updates are few and far between.

I loathe Windows 10 and Microsoft. Can't get anywhere with the support sites. It's useless. I ended up writing a letter to the corporate office in Washington. We'll see how far that gets me.

There are some good support sites on the Internet and maybe the Technology section of this forum would be no better. However, there are some experienced people here who find Windows 10 either works well for them ..or at least does the job. It could be worth going through what you find is wrong with the OS to see if anyone can help. It may not end up being perfect but could end up being better.

Have you thought about taking the computer to a local reputable computer repair shop to see what can be done to improve the system? Online help can work but it sometimes isn't a substitute for someone being there to actually see what you find is wrong.

The problem with W10, W8 and W8.1 (I think it was called) is MS had to make an OS for trad desktop users plus mobile phone and tablet users. And it took a long time to get right. I've got one machine W10 from new and one which was W8 updated to W10. They both work fine.

I hear about problems but I don't know really what these problems are .... the 'tile' mode? touchscreen? the MS Apps?

I just have W10 set to do the basics with the old start button bottom left, and avoid all MS Apps, preferring the freeware alternatives.
