Too much for one person? Wrong in principle? Should have been taken off the contract price? Just askin'.
There are rules relating to public servants and if no rules were broken then there is no problem. If however the buyer did not benefit from the sale then questions are right to be asked.

In terms of $2m it depends entirely on the context. If there is a clause in a legal contract then it's legal is it not? Ethics depend on the circumstances.

If there is a buyer there MUST be a seller Todgy,
What if the buyer is the government, using the money of the tax
payer? Where is the control of value for money coming from?
All the big projects on the go at the moment appear to have open
ended contracts, ( big ben/ HS2/ Crossrail HOP etc) How does this
come about, it seems to be common practice now for the final price
to be double the quoted price! And if the contractor thinks they will
only break even they either raise the price or go bankrupt!
Imo we should go back to the system of gov publicnworks depts
because this private contractor set up is NOT giving value for
money to the taxpayer and WE still carry the risks!

The only thing l could add Annie is that ethics depend on what a
person concieves as right or wrong, not circumstances?
And an unethical clause can be included in a legal contract, thus
making it a legal requirement to conform to a shady contract?
otherwise l support your point of view!

Well if the 2m is to hasten construction of a children's cancer ward then it may be deemed more ethical than something less worthy. That's my reason for needing to understand context for such a bonus. I agree the contract itself may have unethical terms. If it's a government contract that should not be the case here as there are principles public bodies should be following. As it's a figure in $$$ it's not possible to comment without more background. Not sure if that's USA CANADA or monopoly $$$

We are on the same page on this one Annie!
Another thing l dont like is that Ceo's ot banks or corporations
always express their bonus or so called performance reward in
percentages of turnover, whereby they pesonally recieve a % of
the whole groups turnover which should really be shared by all the
employees of the group? This seems to be prevalant in the banking
industry?

When I worked on a project team for a big bank many years ago we all had a bonus based on share of the profits. So I doubt that has changed. It was based on a % of salary.
