That is Brexiteer maths!

Maybe you could highlight some better examples?

Investment in the UK car industry fell 47% last year from 2017 and the country is attracting a tiny fraction of the global investment in electric cars.

Good news though for the few at JLR.

Those job losses were nothing to do with Brexit it was because JLR vehicles are primarily big diesels and because of the emissions regs nobody is buying them.

The same thing is happening all over - except JLR decide to build their new electric versions here.

Look at Germanys car sales figures - the same is happening with them, that and consumer confidence over the lies they told everyone about their emissions.

Its great news Itsme - read my response to Reality1(number 4) - it will explain to you why car sales for large diesels are down all over the world.

You should really be asking yourself "why here and not in the EU" .. as a lot of those cars will be for export. The answer is plain to see - we lead the world in battery technology and British innovation is world leading - it always has been. The other point I would like to make is that JLR (and other major companies) are showing huge amounts of confidence in Brexit Britain.

You should be proud of your country Itsme and the jobs that are being created here. We have record employment - look at Spain, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Ireland. Nobody comes close - we lead the world in so many ways.

You might not want Brexit like I do, but one thing that should be uniting the country is how Britain leads the world in so many, many ways.

Pity though that from the 91 billion VW is investing in asia, europe and usa nothing goes to the UK. The workers that now will be out if a job deserve better politicians.

Good news that Jaguar is investing in UK. So no Project Fear, all hail Brexit?

Lets ignore the 47% reduction in UK car manufacturing investment
Ignore Honda is leaving
Ignore Ford is closing plant
Ignore Nissan is reducing operation
Ignore Toyota is reducing operation
Ignore BMW could reduce operation
Ignore that UK car sales is dropping
Ignore the wider negative effect on UK economy

Re: More Brexit Doom and Gloom

Hi

I am pleased that a foreign company, JLR has decided to invest £500 million in the UK.

I also agree with Bread that falling car sales are nothing to do with Brexit, but with the electrifican of cars.

The worldwide amount of investmest in new engines is £240 Billion, VW alone is investing £70 Billion.

A Worldwide investment of less than 1% of the Global Total here in the UK is not however a victory for Brexit.

I also agree with Bread that the UK is a centre of excellence for Car Design and engineering.

Many F! Teams are based here, because of that.

I also agree with him that we World Leaders in battery design and technology.

Unfortunately, we do not manufacture here in the UK, companies manufacture elsewhere.

Dyson's desigh and labs are here in the UK, but they manufacture elsewhere.

Ford, the huge car manufacturers, have their design and technology headquarters here in the UK.

They are closing all manufacturing here.

It is the British Disease, we are world leaders in innovation, less so in manufacturing.

Our Industrial Productivity is 38% lower than that of the French.

The French are not known for hard work.

We are still suffering from restrictive practices.

The best example of this is the Railways.

Numerous strikes about staffing on trains.

I travel extensively, I have been quite happy on driver less trains and metros.

I am used to getting on a train which leaves on time and arrives on time.

That is a rare occurrence here in the UK.
