Totally useless like everything else in the EU. When faced with a crisis like we see with Corona virus, the unelected office boys show no leadership, they sit on their hands, naval gazing and doing everything they can to protect the ideological BS project while member states ignore there idiotic border policy like we see in Italy, Spain, and Fance.
When Italy protects its Sicilian leisure industry by compensating it for loss of business, the EU fines the 7.5 million euros for breaching their rules.
As time goes on the less relevant the EU becomes.

EU non tarrif barriers prevent trade Solasch, it's part of their ideology to make sure all member states are dependent on Germany and other communist countries that are compatible with it.
The UK trades less and less with the EU each year.
