Re: Boris Burrows

All the rumours and News reports I've seen about this are for a bridge not a tunnel. I'd love to go over to Ireland but under the sea, Nope, No Way, Never.

Re: Boris Burrows

A quote from Wiki:

Dumped munitions

Because of its depth and its proximity to the Cairnryan military port, Beaufort's Dyke became the United Kingdom's largest offshore dump site for surplus conventional and chemical munitions after the Second World War: it had been used for the purpose since the early 20th century. The Ministry of Defence estimated that well over a million tonnes have been dumped there. In July 1945, 14,500 tonnes of 5-inch (130-millimetre) artillery rockets filled with phosgene were dumped.

Munitions have since been deposited by the tide on nearby beaches. In 1995, phosphorus bombs washed up on Scottish coasts, coinciding with the laying of the Scotland-Northern Ireland pipeline (SNIP), a 24-inch (610-millimetre) gas interconnector constructed by British Gas. In the prior five years, antitank grenades had been washing up on Northern Irish and Isle of Man shores.

An explosion was registered as a 2.5 Magnitude earthquake on 8 February 1986. EoQ.

I hope Boris and his merry men and women have a really serious think about this tunnel with THAT lot sitting on the seabed.

There may be a hard border put in place between England and Scotland after Scotland rejoins the EU (according to Wee Nippy) then we can actually see how much Scotland exports to the EU instead of the UK which is their main export market.
No danger of that

If that's the case, they can start the tunnel at the Scottish end, and move the Irish end to mainland Ireland as both will be in the EU.

Whatever an Independent Scotland wants they will have to pay for, no handouts from government.

Re: Boris Burrows

The SNP need to give concrete facts about their answers on independence as well. So far its deflection, deflection, deflection.

The SNP is already tearing itself apart so there's less chance than there has ever been of "concrete facts" coming anytime soon from the SNP, although sadly it probably won't make much difference to the outcome of the forthcoming elections.
The decades of propaganda have already done their work.

It won't take much to show those would-be seperatists the truth though, which is exactly why the SNP have never been able to give a complete forecast of course.
Publication of Scottish income and outgoings will do it.
Convincingly.
And I say this as a Scot that would love independence, but who also understands that it would mean a huge fall in the standard of living in Scotland.
