Bring it on, Boris. The Frogs have always been good at threatening - before immediately waving their white flags! They are the most pathetic people.
Yes, bring it on, JBR !
A 15% tariff on all EU imports to UK should create quite a nice income
for our government shouldn't it, given the prevailing balance of trade
between us ?

Hi

First and foremost.

The EU are collecting Tariffs on our goods, we are not collecting Tariffs on their goods until 1st July.

If we put 15% tariffs on the EU we must put 15% Tariffs on everyone else.

That would hit those on a Pension.

It would only affect those countries who do not have a separate trade agreement with us...

I don't think so, maybe he was pressured by the remainer majority in

the Tory party to do this?
We will never know as the Tories are very good at keeping party
squabbles secret aren't they ?
Why indeed?

Perhaps he was just unsure of himself.
Perhaps, as you say, he was under pressure from the remoaners in his party.
Or perhaps under pressure from the remoaners in the public or, worse, in the civil service.

Had Nigel Farage been in his shoes, things would have been distinctly different and we'd have been out of the EU's clutches long ago.

Perhaps they still may be... in 2024.

Yes, that's something I have yet to understand. Why are we not taking advantage of our being a nett importer from the EU?

As for our exports to the EU, such as they are, aren't the EU doing all they can to prevent us doing that?

The bit I highlight there explains all: it's all just in your opinion.

We can keep going round and round if you want but as I have repeatedly explained, it is what it is.
There was always bound to be an unhappy contingent no matter what was done.

This way there are enough clauses and get-outs that we can use if we - and that is we as a country and not we meaning a few disgruntled forumites - decide that they should be used.
This way is better (whether you agree or not) than missing more deadlines or having no deal which we might, I must remind you, still yet end being quite close to as an end result.

You don't think so?
So what.
The ones that count do, as you can see from how the GB£ and UK shares are performing.

That's as it should be Zaph!
Your opinion versus other opinions ??
Isn't that what a forum is about?
If you have such a low opinion of forums, why do you partake in
one?
BTW, you didn't answer my question!
Why if Boris wanted a firmer stance with the EU, didn't he take a
firmer stance when when he took over the negotiations from
Frosty at the end of the so called "deadline" ?
It was you that stated Boris wanted a firmer stance BTW !! #18

Why would it? I can already buy most of the stuff I used to buy from EU sources from either local or from outside the EU. For example, I've been buying Camembert and Brie (2 classic French cheeses) from an English maker, based here in the UK, for the last 12 months or so. These English versions are equally as good in both flavour and texture as the Frog varieties.

Quite so. I have bought Cornish Brie before and it's very nice, and it has the distinct advantage of not being French!

In fact, I'm surprised that the Frogs haven't complained about us using their trade name. After all, they complain about everything else!
