EU ratification !

No surprises here, an overwhelming vote to ratify according to
the daily telegraph !!
So we are well and truly stuffed now ?
Bound for eternity to keep importing from our friends across the
channel with the ever growing trade deficit that goes along with
that !!
I am sure that our remainers will give this news a hearty welcome
perhaps now they will all creep back to where they creep to when
not agitating for closer ties??

You might well be "well and truly stuffed" DM but the rest of the country is just getting on with things.

Threads in here like "Britain Booms" show you that the country has a bright future ahead of it and anybody who ever thought that leaving the EU would mean a sudden halt in trade between the UK and the EU needs the sort of help that can't be found in a forum to be blunt and honest.

What happens with EU/UK trade depends now upon business and people.
Are they going to stop buying German and French cars and wines for example?
Or will we have more choice now that we have greater freedom to buy from wherever we want to?
Only time will tell.

Re: EU ratification !

This is the end of the beginning.

The European Parliament announced on Wednesday that it has approved the Brexit deal agreed back in December and provisionally applied since the start of the year.

I've suggested as much in a thread not long ago.

I suspect however that the disaffected EUrophiles who frequent this place will continue to try and sow division with their obfuscation in this part of the forum for a while yet, sadly.
They have nothing left to offer and seem not to be able to spend their time more productively encouraging improvement within their beloved EU, even though by all appearances that seems far more necessary.

Re: EU ratification !

I was heartened by the comments of the Italian MEP - what he said is true IMO.

“They didn’t understand the legitimate will of a great and proud country that wanted to democratically exercise its sovereignty instead of delegate it to faceless mandarins who have shown they couldn’t manage an apartment building! Characters who, if they had worked in a private company, would have been immediately kicked out.”

Re: EU ratification !

Hi

We are not bound to the EU, we have had a hard Brexit and can go our own way.

Good Riddance and away we go.

It is all down to us now.
