It's windows 8, I have had it a year and only used it twice! Not for me unless this machine packs up!

Re: Does anyone have a HP .......

My last one was an HP never had a day of problems with it only thing was it got quite hot and was much heavier than the Toshiba I now use. That may be because it was an earlier model though as things seem to be being made lighter now.

I only swapped because it absolutely died with a virus but that wasn't the machines fault.

Windows 8 isn't as good as previous versions IMO but I have got used to it and not much I can't do now really.

I have a new HP Envy with windows 8.1 which is as easy to use as windows 7. If you have windows 8 I believe you can download 8.1 free of charge. If by any chance you use facebook, HP have facebook page and a tech person always on line there to answer questions.

I think that's one reason I find windows 8 and 8.1 not as good they seem to have made it for twits and facebook users and people with mobile devices - apps etc.

Hi Loretta - I have a HP Pavilion and windows 8.1
I've had this around 10 months I'd say, its just an odd one and although I don't use the battery its always so low - I have to do a restart every week too ........

Certainly not - seeing as I've never used it
Just checked it says 20 per cent - not charging - daft thing - but I guess it doesn't matter
But me symbols keep disappearing and this bloomin restart business is a pain ,,,,,,,

Re: Does anyone have a HP .......

I'm no techie Patsy but my computer people have told me to use the laptop on battery only now and then to let the battery discharge. They said if it's used plugged in all the time the computer begins to think it doesn't have a battery and runs slow. As I say, I'm no techie but I am taking their advice and using it on battery only now and then, so perhaps it's possible your laptop is beginning to think it doesn't have a battery either !

Sorry, forgot to say that hovering the mouse over the battery icon tells me exactly how long I still have on the battery.

Re: Does anyone have a HP .......

Its a puzzle Loretta - because Fabio beside me has an Acer and his battery is always fully charged (made meself laugh there) so he is OK in the same situation as me ........
