Raab Has Found A New Leverage!
Raab’s Brexit Leverage – Parma Ham!
Hmm, Seems as though we have the EU’s chief negotiator, Barnier, very worried.
The British negotiators have just noticed a means of leverage that could disarm the stumbling block of the negotiations over Ireland.
As we all know, under Brussels rules, iconic geographical regional food and drink names such as Feta Cheese, Parma Ham and Champagne sparkling wine, can only be used by producers from the original region using the traditional production methods.
Brussels cannot remove iconic British names from its official register and wants Britain to provide the same level of protection for European products in order to avoid extra expense as part of the withdrawal agreement.
Michael Barnier has made it clear that geographical indicators are one of the important factors still not resolved as part of the negotiations, which 20% remains unresolved.
Barnier stated “We still do not have the British position on European geographic regional issues. This is very important for consumers in the UK as well as 27 other EU countries consumers.
GOTCHA!!
it certainly won't worry us as much as it will them! It makes a change for the boot to be on the other foot instead of the usual EU Gimmee!
What do you think?
