Security question.

So many people are angry/disgusted/ whatever/ about the £2million spent on security for the recent Royal wedding.

How do they feel about the £18 spent on security for President Trumps visit?

They only spent £18 on Trump's security, WOW, who would have believed it.

Well, £18 is about what he's worth, really.

Re: Security question.

I would really love an answer from the members who were berating the £2million spent on security for the royal wedding.

This is chicken feed compared to the Trump visit.

Hi

It is a sad fact of life that terrorists are always looking for high value targets.

It is the price we pay.

It would be a major coup for them to succeed with an attack on our Royal family or a head of state.

Re: Security question.

The critics must remember it wasn't just a second rate Royal wedding as has been described by one critic.

Our Queen was there and as such she deserves the best security possible.

Hi

Exactly Carol.

The other thing is, for the money minded, is that it is cheaper to prevent an attack than to have one happen.

Re: Security question.

But they have their own money. I think that's what people are bothered about. The Queen is one of the richest people in the UK. If "normal" families can scrimp and save for their offsprings' weddings, why can't the Royals with all their millions? They "earn" (now there's a contradiction in terms, lol!) far more than the average Joe in the street does.

Re: Security question.

I look upon the Trump visit not as a visit by an individual person but as a visit by the elected President of the USA a country which is our friend and ally and as such Trump (or any US president) should be afforded the appropriate reception and security befitting their position.

With regard to security for a royal wedding or any other occasion, it provides a good opportunity to rehearse and test our security measures something which is necessary in times of terrorism.
