Over 55

Read in the paper about this woman who gave birth to triplets after IVF in Cyprus.
Flip me , it took me all my time to look after Twins and I was 30 years younger.
Seems un-natural to me.
Even her 21 year old son has come forward and said it is not a good idea.
Wonder why these women do such things ?

Re: Over 55

Some women find the end of their child bearing years very traumatic, the idea of never having more children makes them for things like this. Having not had live children myself I had a wobble when I realised it would never happen but menopause was very welcome as it ended any of the thoughts it might happen, but I can see how it could have gone the other way.

Forgive me for saying so , but she has already had children, hence her son coming forward and saying it is not a good idea.

We have a friend that lost his wife. He was lost for a few years then met a lovely girl half his age. They had twins last year.

He is 75!

Good luck to her if that what she wants.

I had my one and only at age thirty three in those days when I was classed as an old woman?!

She probably won't live long enough to fully rear them so I hope for their sake she has a good back up plan in place ...

Re: Over 55

Lots of older men have kids with younger woman, it doesn't seem so bad that way round. I was so very glad to get the change, certainly didn't want any more kids.
If a woman deliberately has kids late in life she is gonna be so old when they are still kids, no that isn't right.
I do know someone who accidently had a baby late in life, with her OH, their other two kids were grown up, as she had had a particial hysterectomy never thought she could get pregnant again, let alone on the change. Baby a girl was born early by cesarean because her womb was not big enough to hold to full term. You would never know how tiny that baby had been once she reached 4 years.

I had my youngest at 41 and looked after one of my grandsons for a year from newborn when I was in my 50's, it nearly killed me! Good luck to her, I think she's nuts!

Re: Over 55

I really think the menopause is there for a reason. Our bodies are not designed to bear children so late ..
I thought the Dutch woman Tineke Geessink was bad enough having a child at 63 but the German woman Annegret Raunigk who was 65 when she gave birth to quads in 2015 is even worse.

Interestingly the Dutch press report that Geessink is now finding life with a small child more difficult than she imagined.. Well blow me down with a feather, really?
