Re: The new passports (Post-Brexit)

All to do with that thing called 'procurement' , introduced all those years ago.
Councils had to take it on board too and probably what now has resulted in our bad roads etc. The cheaper option has been responsible for far too much. We only get what we pay for.

I thought we had EU procurement rules.

UJ, Please accept my apologies for inadvertently muscling in on your thread. I did look on Brexit to see if anyone else had started the same thread but couldn't see anything.
Hope I'm forgiven??

Morning AnnieS, I believe the thread being moved was my fault. I went to the Brexit forum and looked to see if anyone had already started a thread about the passports, couldn't see anything so went ahead with my thread after 9 am this morning. I didn't realise that UJ had already started same thread on other debates/discussions at 8.30 this morning. hence I believe that is why mine was the guilty thread and was moved to be a post instead. Sorry about that. completely guilty but innocent in my heart! LOL.

Your post was by far the better of the two opening posts SG, so much easier on the eye and interesting.

Re: The new passports (Post-Brexit)

This is a backward step as in the long run it is British workers that will lose out and it will cause unemployment to many Printers.
In the past successive governments have allowed many famous British Business and Buildings to be Sold down the River’ to Rich Foreigners who then are allowed to sell them on tax free as their Companies are registered abroad . British businesses have to pay tax.
Why should Harrods the most famous British Store worldwide now be owned by The Qatar Royal Family who are so rich they could by whole Countries ?
Also in foreign ownership
New Scotland Yard Building London.
Tower Hamlets London.
Olympia Exhibition Hall London.
CIS Tower Manchester Lancs.
And many more bought by Russians with dirty money
This is disgraceful and should not be allowed.

Re: The new passports (Post-Brexit)

Hi

I will repeat.

This has naff all to do with the EU Rules.

Any Free Trade Agreement we sign in the Future will relate to Manufactured Goods.

This includes Passports.

There is a 100% get out on both EU and WTO Rules as regards National Security.

The award of this Contract has absolutely Naff All to do with the EU, In our Out, it is entirely a Political decision made by our Government.

I find it disgusting, but we cannot blame the EU for it.

In a Nutshell it is down to Theresa May, nobody else.

She had the right to Veto it, on the grounds of National Security.

She has chosen not to.
