Re: Psychedelic, Acid, Garage, Bands.

As soon as I saw this thread, this one popped into my mind.

Full of drug references which completely by-passed the BBC play policy on such references which I believe was in effect at the time. Best played at Mk 11 on the volume control. "My Friend Jack Eats Sugarlumps" by The Smoke ...

Re: Psychedelic, Acid, Garage, Bands.

This is the 'B' side of Floyd's "Arnold Layne" (a pleasant little tune about transvestism and petty night-time clothes larceny).

This, however, made me think "Why the hell are I listening to The Beatles" ... and the rest is history.

"Candy and a Currant Bun" ...

"Mirror Of Illusion", the 'B' side of Hawkwind's first single "Hurry On Sundown", taken from their first album (1970), I love the cover. Not sure who was on the tone generator, Dik Mik or Del Dettmar?

Remember seeing Pink Floyd at the Leeds Uni Saturday night gig in about
1970. Cant put photos on here but brings back memories of all the
groups I saw live in those days. Leeds University put them all on and
it has many wall plaques in the room they all appeared. With the dates
and the groups names. Must get a photo sometime. Always loved the
Beatles but the Hippy groups were a different thing.

Now you're talking, or 'Careful with that Axe Eugene'

Still my favourite Pink Floyd Album (hated Dark Side of the Moon)

Jefferson Airplane? How about "Blows against the Empire"?

However my all time favourite is Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, Spotlight Kid or Mirror Man or Strictly Personal or...

Everything went better with acid.

Hello Bruce, a bit of Floyd trivia for you. A version of "Careful with that axe" was used for the final sequence of Antonioni's 'counter-culture' movie "Zabriskie Point" ...
