Re: EU Regulations Gone Mad

Ad nauseam.
Any seller has to comply with the buyers requirements.
Be it EU, USA or any where.
We have been successfully selling to the EU for many years, why should we now suddenly not be able to meet standards?

Hi

Exactly right, the only issue will be vast amounts of additional paperwork for exports to the EU to prove we are meeting their requirements.

They will have to do the same for anything they Export to the UK from the EU.

@ Treggie

Because standards change.

And the UK won't have anything to say about the changes even if they do not benefit the UK.

and you have shifted the discussion.
The original post was bemoaning the standards. Now you say you can meet them.

So they aren't much of a burden are they ???????

Simple, don't sell to the EU, and don't buy anything from them either unless they abide the our rules. And our rules should be 'If the product is suitable to the buyer that is all you need to know' end of.....When you buy something from a shop you don't need the EU's approval, so why should you need it when buying or selling in Europe?

Good idea and while we are at it we could move back into the caves from whence we emerged thousands of years ago.

Only if the EU designate the caves habitable, there is probably legislation to cover this Purwell....

I'm not sure about this, which is why I am asking, but do all non-EU countries have to jump through the hoops and fulfil all of the EU's requirements before being able to sell to them?

Hi

Yes, but only in respect of those goods that they sell to the EU.

So, once we leave, anything we sell to the EU will have to meet their rules, anything we sell to the USA has to meet their standards, which are different and so on and so forth.

We have no standards of our own, so we are adapting the EU Standards until we develop our own.

We are also adopting all current EU Regulations and then face the massive task of wading through them all , repealing them and getting our own Regulations through Parliament.

That decision has already been taken, there is simply not enough Parliamentary time to do otherwise.

There could be some problems regarding certain items. For example ;France have refused to take Silver Cross prams, siting them in the health and safety agenda. They conform to all EU rules but France said they didn't meet their own Trade Rules. One wonders what the rules actually are . Ludicrous !
