Any real socialist will have been opposed to the EEC (later the EU) from day one. Indeed, opposition to the EEC/EU was Labour Party policy until Blair's Tory Lite brigade took over the party and tried to destroy (mostly successfully) its working class roots. Who should a working class socialist believe - the despicable likes of Mandleson, Blair etc, or Tony Benn? No brainer for me!
As for evidence - just look at the way the EU has treated workers in Greece and Italy.
I find it sad that someone like you from the "old left" is doing what identity politics snowflakes do and calls everyone who disagrees with them racists and neo-fascists.
Whoa, making a huge assumption that I'm a remainer, I'm not!!! - as you quite correctly indicate, those of us on the 'left' were and remain opposed to the Common Market, EEC, and EU from the day that grinning imbecile Heath signed the Treaty of Rome documents.
