Re: Shootings in California

" There is currently scant detail about Tashfeen Malik, the (alleged ?) second shooter, but San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan said she was 27 years old.
Mr Burguan said:
"We're pretty comfortable that the two shooters that went into the building are the two shooters deceased on San Bernardino Avenue."

hmmmmm "pretty comfortable"
Hell, despite thousands of books, inquiries, documentaries etc etc etc
after 52 years they still don't know for sure who killed Kenedy !

Re: Shootings in California

Hi

There are a lot of Americans who do want the Gun Laws changed, however the way the system works is such that it is not going to happen.

The thing that I do find strange however is that fully automatic military assault weapons are readily available.

The sole purpose of these things is to kill as many people as possible in the shortest possible time.

They are even allowed open carry in at least one State.

It must be a trifle strange to take your kid to McDonalds for a Happy Meal to find a bloke with an assault rifle at the next table.

Just my thoughts, the two sides are so entrenched I cannot see any way forward.

Here are a couple more mass murderers who served in the United States Military. However, it wasn't Farook who was in the American military. It was his brother.

Re: Shootings in California

Well what would one expect ?
A major role of the military is to teach people to kill.
By its very nature, it also teaches that violence is an acceptable course of action.
Further, it discourages independent thought with its insistence on obeying orders.

And we must remember too that these bods all served in the U.S. "might-is-right" military.

I repeat: ... it wasn't Farook who was in the American military. It was his brother.

... but then, what you are saying is that Bush ought never have been allowed to apply for the presidencey. The illegal invasion of Irak was certainly "on the cards" from a former, American military man for the reasons you've already provided.

Well it makes a change from you picking on Brits. Gee ... there seems to be only one country in the world who is head and shoulders above the rest of us bumbling Neanderthals.

I was responding to the long list of mass-murderers you listed in your post immediately before mine.
Not specifically about Farook.

In a democracy, he should be "allowed" to stand for any elective office he chooses - but it says much about the Yank voters who actually elected him twice (well sorta) !

Gee, I don't pick on "the Brits", dear Morty.
Only the irrational, generic Muslim-haters amongst them.

I assure you, I have more problems with the warmongering (as a nation) Yanks than I do with Poms who pretty much just fight amongst themselves.

And I am well aware of the many flaws in successive Australian governments (if that's what you meant)
