I remember when I was a young boy my Granny used to say that it's a poor mouse who has only one hole to depend on, never knew what she meant by that.

I think she meant that you shouldn't depend on one thing only and not have another plan(escape hole) in mind or you could end up poor.

Something similar to "Don't put all your eggs in one basket"

She came through the depression years and when the stock market crashed those who had their money there, were bankrupt and those who had their money in the bank, lost it all.

Thanks for that explanation Sandi, it makes good sense to me, she was far from wealthy but she knew how to handle what she had wisely.

Lucky its not bats, you are not allowed to disturb them. Mice are the very devil to get rid of , we used to use snapover traps, but our vermin control council officer we had on contract against rats put down a covered baited trap which did get rid of a lot of field mice and the occassional rat
