Sleeping rough in London cops a fine

The homeless people in Hackney, London are facing expulsion from the street due to a new law will allow the police to give out fines and other legal penalties to homeless people who are found loitering, begging and sleeping in commercial places.

Good luck with that.

Do them a favour, arrest them, give them a hot meal and a bed for the night but, fine them ffs, how ridiculous.

Perhaps the police ought to leave drunks lying on the pavements overnight .... collect them all up in the morning and fine them £1,000 quid instead.

Perhaps they should look after the British first and give them homes instead of housing foreigners first. Seriously, how on earth can they fine homeless people who have no money?

Reminds me of what happens in my city. When the homeless become an eye sore they move them. A temporary solution to an on going problem

Why don't they go to homeless shelters?
There are many of them in London.

Believe it or not homeless people do not feel secure in shelters. They get ripped off by other homeless people. So they say, they feel much safer sleeping on the street. Homeless people need help. The government ignores them because in their eyes they are a lost cause

Mental illness, the need to be alone, scared of enclosed spaces, scared of crowds, PTSD etc.

A lot of the homeless are there by choice.
Most are not.
