Ah thanks, I knew one of them was bad; nitrItes are the ones in the good bacon at Whole Foods, then.
I think you would have to ask your shop about their curing processes Dandysmom. I am not sure whether too many added nitrites or nitrates in food are bad for us. I tend to think they are and I think the answer is to not eat a lot bacon and processed meats. I also understand that smoked meats are not that good for us either.
Thanks. Whole Foods is a huge organic nationwide chain, only carries the healthy stuff. I adore bacon but other than that do not eat any processed meat ... unless the Plumrose tinned hams could be considered processed?
