Slightly off topic but when our house was up for sale, an Eastern European couple came to view it. The wife instantly fell in love with our two cats and asked if we would sell them with the house. To some people, pets are just an accessory.

What a flamin' nerve!

And yes, I agree about pets are just accessories to some people, like buying a new mobile.

Apparently Staffies are the most common. My collie is least favourite for reason.

You are right Besoker collies are not on the favourite list for stealing .
My collie came from a rescue and there are loads in rescues .
There seems to be a preference too lately for spaniels .
I always share on FB and hope their owners get them back .

Re: Lucy's Law and Lockdown

When we were actively looking for a dog we saw several puppies for sale .
Not once did the sellers inquire anything about us .
They were only interested in selling the pups .
We didn’t go to ‘ reputable ‘ breeders as we were looking for a cross bred .
At last we did what we have always done got a rescue .
Not a pup not a cross bred
But a collie who needed a home
And he’s a wonderful dog

Re: Lucy's Law and Lockdown

Thank you Mups .
I think one reason for the spate in dog theft is the rediculous price of pups .
I have just looked up the price of pups .
Spaniels seem to be £2000+ and french bulldogs seem to start at about £3000.
Labs around £2000.
No wonder people steal them ,
The police are not that interested in dog theft
( I have yet to discover what sort of crime the police are actually interested in )

I agree with everything you say Muddy.
Even if a dog thief is caught, the piddly fine he may get is nothing compared to the profit he's made on selling the dog on.
Dog theft is a very profitable business and will continue while the law stays as it is, and idiots buy from unknown sources.
