. . . . . or that some things do.

At the end of the day, we are all free to decide whatever we want.

Well said Surfermom.
Hi

I agree.

Surfermom has an innate ability to get to the crux of the matter and explain it in a way that people can understand.

A brilliant teacher in other words.

Mups is not a scientist, but has that same natural ability to make sense.

Apart from her sense of direction of course.

Some people just have it, it cannot be explained, but such abilities are very worthy of respect.

I am a scientist, very good at my old job so I am told.

I do not have that ability that they and others have however.

As I said earlier, proof is a slippery thing. Science is mostly based on theories that fit with testable evidence.

And proof that something doesn't exist, proving a negative, nigh on impossible. How would you prove that the FSM doesn't exist?

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.

"Nothing can be excepted unless it is proved to be true"

Can't bring to mind who is quoted as saying that - perhaps Descartes?

Very apropos

I think knowledge is what you have learned -
Wisdom is what you do with that knowledge.

Proving a negative?

Could you give me an example?

How would you know that it was a negative?
