Now listen 'ere you two male persons - I am still very sad about my necklace, and since neither of you tight fisted old wotsits have once offered to treat me to another one - even after the many kindnesses I have shown you over the years!However, I came up with a plan.
I went to see a lady Goldsmith in town yesterday.
I sketched out what I wanted, and have left it with her to work out a price for making me a new one. She is going to ring me on Wednesday.
I asked her for two prices, one for a gold cross and one for a silver one.
I have a feeling it will be expensive.
I am also worried that even if I can afford it, aint it'll be sod's law that my old one will turn up then!
Don't know what to do. Will wait and see what she says when she rings first.
In the meantime, I think your consciences should be making you feel extremely benevolent to your dear, kindly friend who has always shown you nothing but care and devotion (ahem
), and send large donations a.s.a.p. if you please.
