Not what you'd call a trick exactly, but I have a totally useless ability. I can quickly calculate the number of letters in a word or a sentence or a phrase - actually it does come in useful with crossword clues.

A bit like my ability to read words upside down, inside out and back to front. Totally useless but it keeps me amused when passing the time in shops.
