Its interesting that as a young man he was befriended by Samuel Morgenstern a Jewish businessman who bought and sold many of his paintings .... his friendship did him no favours though as years later Samuel Morgenstern died penniless in a Jewish ghetto and his wife died in Auschwitz
Apparently Hitler was peeved because he was turned down for Art College and was advised to do architecture instead.

That rejection gave him a complex.

Explains a lot.

Hmm - I still think he should have stuck to painting! Some of them were really good.

Wonder why the College turned him down? Perhaps they saw the evil lurking in him??

It was a top college and they didn't think he was good enough for them.
Technically ok, but lacking that 'spark', ifswim.

Edit...from Wiki....

"In 1936, after seeing the paintings Hitler submitted to the Vienna art academy, John Gunther wrote "They are prosaic, utterly devoid of rhythm, color, feeling, or spiritual imagination. They are architect's sketches: painful and precise draftsmanship; nothing more. No wonder the Vienna professors told him to go to an architectural school and give up pure art as hopeless".[7]

One modern art critic was asked to review some of his paintings without being told who painted them and judged them "quite good" in 2002. The different style in which he drew human figures, however, the critic said, represented a profound disinterest in people.[18]"
