Re: Driverless Cars

If we could afford one I would leap at the chance, could keep order in the car while I am driven no more barking Elsie or whining Betty or are we there yet Grace

Re: Driverless Cars

1 I cant see why we need them unless it would improve safety but wonder what will happen after there is an accident.

2 As you wont be in control of the car then dont see a problem with using a phone.

3 Based on my belief that you wont be in control of the car then why would you need a driving test.

4 I have no idea but i cant see them being drones controlled from home.

5 If your not in control of the car then doubt you would be charged with drink driving your just a passenger.

Ive tried to give a few answers Mups, of course i know very little about these cars or how they are going to be operated, so its just conjecture on my part. Perhaps there are some on here that may be better informed.

They do concern me, an ideal way for a terrorist to plant a bomb and be elsewhere when it goes off, or the chance of an accident when not if one fails mechanically are a couple of things that spring to mind.

Re: Driverless Cars

I would imagine you would break drink drive laws though just as people towing caravans or driving campervans can even if they are stopped for the night if the driver over imbibes they can be prosecuted even though they don't intend to drive until they leave the next day.

The future is already here

Re: Driverless Cars

Well, by the time everyone has a driver-less car the whole system controlling them would be pukka - no more accidents - no more traffic jams etc. No-one would be done for drink driving cos they wouldn't be driving. Bring it on if you ask me.

Goodness, you're right, that could well be a possibility, I hadn't even thought of that one.
I really don't see why they've invented them anyway, it seems another huge waste of time and money to me, and as you say Nom - wide open to abuse.
Thankyou for trying to answer my questions.

Re: Driverless Cars

That's the trouble with folks, when they run out if useful things to invent, they invent stuff just because they can, anyway, pothole avoidance is a "Must" feature, as is temporary traffic light recognition.
