That is a great specimen, i love hostas too,some are being eaten, i cant use slug pellets, as my garden is teaming with wildlife,i leave them to the frogs and hogs.i believe i have around 13 hostas.they are shade lover's and love their soil to me moist,very easyto grow.

That's amazing Missy and Pauline not a slug hole in sight .
I used to have hostas but gave up the battle .

Thats some collection you have there Pauline

I shall be increasing mine as the ones in the posts do need to be planted in the ground now

My neighbour below me has massive hostas but his garden is over 20 years in the making, mine is still new

They get plenty of water here

Thank you Meg and Missy,

Missy,i was amazed at how big your hosta was,my biggest ones,are over 10 yrs old,you must have the perfect growing conditions, you say your neighbours hostas are huge, ..i looked them up online, some are as big as a 5 yr old,..i bet they had massive ones at Chelsea, i absolutely love them!...do you feed them?

I just stick them in and leave them to it

When I was in London and a tiny garden and everything in pots I’d feed when I remembered, just tomato feed

Here I have a free supply of well rotted manure, fella below has horses and donkeys and when we dig a bed it gets a good load and every couple of years after

That one is 4 years old and the second year in the garden. It’s been split twice already and will be split again next year I think

Me too, damn slugs have scoffed me Marigolds this year

I'm not so good at taking phots but here is one of mine under the mirror I showed you in an earlier thread when the hosta was just shooting
