I have absolute respect for them. It must be extremely heartbeaking to be born in the 'wrong' body. Those I have met through them working in an environment where I visit. One a hospital nurse, clearly a man - sex change to woman. 'She' was lovely. Another in a charity shop, often serves me, again charming. Another, a supermarket cashier - again charming. Another - a customer in a supermaket walking in 'her' high heels with her Mother doing her weekly shop... Admiration for them .....
we've all got the right body - what's wrong with them?

Re: Transvestites

Who's to say what normal is anyway. Some animals are hermaphrodites, some can change sex to accommodate the survival of their species, so "nature" doesn't come into it. Surely being happy with yourself would create a better society for everyone. Segregation, intolerance and bigotry certainly won't!

I think he meant we shouldn't be judged by our body, I hope! If not, right with you Pats!

Re: Transvestites

Australia seems much more tolerant of peoples " differences" than UK, I wonder if that is so?

Re: Transvestites

Sixty years ago I worked with Joe, Joe was a person in the wrong body, he suffered in those days.
But he was brave and after some years, he became just one of the guys, and that is how it should be.
Just to add he was one of the smartest men I ever knew, he did meet a lovely lady and they were very happy.
Which was great for that era.

I wish that was true Davo, we wouldn't be living in this horrible world we live in, but it is not true.

Re: Transvestites

I found myself learning about transvestites at quite an early age, mostly lovely guys who just like dressing in women's clothes, being fat I was shopping in Evans from quite early on and at the time that was the shop the local transvestites favoured as they were the only shop to do ladies clothing in men's sizes. So shopping along side some of them I went from wondering what on earth they were doing to helping and advising on right colour bag and shoes etc.

When you think about it no one turns a hair when they see women dressed in masculine clothing so why not I say. Dress in what ever you want as long as it makes you happy.

Exactly , I think people can dress as they want, it is nobody's business but their own.

I have met a number of cross dressers over the years. One was a brilliant but eccentric scientist who used to shop in the supermarket with a basket on his head , another a rugby player both happily married man who just liked to wear very flamboyant womens clothes occasionally.

People like Grayson Perry the artist are I hope helping to make cross dressing more accepted.
