Divine intervention - true or false?
the recent sad story of the husband and wife out cycling in Sydney who were both mowed down by an elderly female driver brought this to mind. The wife was killed outright and the husband survived with minor injuries. The wifes brother went on facebook and posted:
"She [had] her whole life ahead of her. Why did God feel he needed her?"
He was obviously very attached to his sister but it is this thought that somehow God has intervened if you believe in God.
My take on this sad story is that is was a pure accident and my own interpretation of biblical readings is that we all have been give free will to do whatever we wish and want - take Hitler for an example - why didn't God intervene in the gas chamber experiments people ask?
To paraphrase God " I have given all of you free will to do whatever - it may be good or 'bad' but I will not interfer - you have to learn"
there have been instances of course in history where divine intervention does seem to take place and people have been saved from disasters etc - why - not a clue - Gods knowledge and design is omnipotent omniscient omnipresent and ours isn't.
so whilst I can sympathize with the brothers grief IMO - God did not decide to take her there and then
