Re: 5 to 7 portions of fruit and veg

I've just Googled it Mark and it seems that frozen veg are just as good for you as fresh veg.

Re: 5 to 7 portions of fruit and veg

Just did some googling and 1) a portion is a half cup of chopped fruit or veg or a cup of leafy veg and 2) nutritional values of fresh vs frozen not huge but frozen likely to have lower water soluble vitamin content.

Ooo ... some good news for a change .

Might have some sweetcorn right now in fact, with a little oat bran (very fine) as they bind together nicely, with a touch of salt and vinegar. Yup - gonna micro it for 3 mins.

Other cheap foods I buy are Tesco own brand muesli and red peanuts from Ebay (protein).

I understand some frozen veg can be better for you than fresh because it is frozen at the point of picking and retains many of its vitamins.

Some fresh vegetables spend days in transit and lose a lot of their nutrients.

The best veg of all are those you pick from your garden and eat straight away .

Now you're talking Meg! I just can't wait for our runner beans to be ready to pick. I wonder if 5 portions of those on my plate at a time would count?
