Camcorder battery. 800mAh or higher

I'm having problems finding a replacement camcorder battery, CGR-D08R 7.2v 800mAh, for my very old Panasonic NV-DS27.

I can get a 1100mAh. Would this be compatible, do you think? I'd hate to throw away a perfectly good camcorder just because the battery is no longer rechargeable.

Many thanks.

Re: Camcorder battery. 800mAh or higher

mAh stands for milli Ampere hour or milli Amp hour. It is a measure of a battery's energy storage capacity. If you think of a battery as a small fuel storage tank, which in a sense it is, mAh a measure of how much "fuel" the battery holds.

So, the 1100 is perfectly compatible and will last longer.

Jazzi

Even at 1100 you're still not going to get much shooting time.

Spend a whole lot less on making a simple external battery pack which you can attach to your belt. You'll get many hours of shooting time that way.

Here's a couple of good links on people who have done this. II think it's quite common.
