Nah, you don't want chicks Annie. Cute though they are, without their mothers you would need to keep them under a heat lamp for about 6 - 8 weeks for a start.
You wouldn't get any eggs for 5 - 6 months either.
One of our local animal rescues has loads and loads of laying hens they are trying to rehome, ex cage birds.
You'd get a quicker return that way.
