Your car

If you have/had one...
Do/did you call it a He, a She or an It?

Re: Your car

I had a VW Beetle in my university days. I took the back seat out and installed a small mattress. It had a great stereo. My girlfriend of the time named it "The Sound Lounge" It stuck

Re: Your car

An 'It'. It's a practical method of getting around in. A manufactured device. It isn't human.

Re: Your car

I call mine whatever it is, the Jeep, the Land Rover, the Escort etc., and if they break down I've got lots of other names to call them too ...

Re: Your car

My car is a 'she' and my sat nav is Doris - I tend to talk to them both when I'm driving alone. If I make a mistake changing gear I apologise to my car and if Doris tells me to 'turn around when possible' I tell her to shut up!

Re: Your car

My dad always called his cars ‘she’.

I just say, ‘the car’.
