They've been released without charge.

Cast-iron credentials and rock-solid alibis - former soldier, working hard (employer can account for movements) to support glamourous wife and ex-girlfriend (employer's daughter) with his baby (he visits her every day for tea!)

Wife has a Jack Russell and a pug named Sid and Maddie.

Obviously mistaken identity .....

So they have:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-46665615

A man and woman arrested in connection with drone sightings that grounded flights at Gatwick Airport have been released without charge.

The 47-year-old man and 54-year-old woman were arrested on Friday night on suspicion of "the criminal use of drones".

Flights were suspended for more than 36 hours when the device was first spotted close to the runway on Wednesday night.

Sussex Police said the pair were no longer suspects.
Possibly, not eco-warriors, activists or runway protesters either, then .....

Poor things, it'll be a while before they can put this behind them...

Indeed, look at their haggard appearance after being held by police:

I know the police have to interview people and that can be stressful but it should be done without plastering them on in the media. This isn't first time they've had the wrong person and that person has suffered. All wrong and how if they went to court would they get an unbiased jury when we've all read about them ?

What a wonderful country this is.
Nobody seems to do any job properly.
I bet the police only arrested this couple because a nosy neighbour told them the husband was a drone enthusiast and they lived in the right part of town.

It looks like the BBC might be in the sh*t again - have they forgotten the Cliff Richard incident? I feel sorry for the couple and I hope nothing happens to them after this media balls-up.

I think it is so wrong that they have their faces, personal details and house plastered all over the papers, but they were only being questioned, which does not mean that they are guilty.

It could also have been they were helping the police track down someone, who would bother to help if they knew their faces would be in the media ? could be very dangerous.
