I love the idea it still has all the original features. I think it's beautiful.

I don't normally like church conversions but that is beautifully done.

It's nice but I wouldn't want to live in it, too vast spaces.

Beautifully done indeed. Our village church as been for sale for years, but nobody seems interested and it is in urgent need of repair. (It's on the buildings at risk register) You could probably get it for around £50k, but it has almost no land or parking. It would cost a fortune to restore and so probably the best thing would be to demolish it, sell the materials (the Scottish slate roof itself would be worth thousands) and build a new house.

No hate that idea, communities bought and built most of these buildings if they cannot be sold IMO they should return to the community and be used for something the locals need.

Re: church now a home

Ive worked on a couple of church conversions, certainly solidly built, but very hard to heat efficiently, and costly to renovate, make good community centers, but probably cheaper to build one from scratch.

I thought about the heating too, Nom. With those huge ceilings it would be very expensive to keep warm. I've a feeling the owners can probably afford the heating bills

Church of Scotland Parish church.....
Built 1851- later used as an auction house... The ground surrounding the church belongs to the adjacent manse.
The nearby church hall is still used for social events.
