That's the same principle as the one I use Jim isn't it only a bit more sophisticated and for more than one person .
I do think they give excellent results.

I have two coffee presses a 2 cup and a 6 cup, the 2 cup only just makes enough for me, but I did use the 6 cup filling it just half full, which fulfilled me.
Now I am besotted with this latest gadget, but it did take me awhile to discover the best way to make it.
I boil some water and heat all the jugs etc. my cup is given 30 sec. in the microwave to preheat it.
And one thing I realised vary quickly it pays to clean it all down as soon as possible.
Cheers everybody!

Re: Coffee anyone?

I used to use a cafetiere and got fed up with having to dispose of the dregs.

Coffee and tea all day long for me. Love both. Have discovered Carte Noir instant (was given a sample some time ago when I visited Stratford Westfield and loved it) so now have that first thing in the morning. Then during the day I either have tea or a blend of full caff and half caff (I just mix the two) instant. Gold Blend used to sell half caff but no longer.

I have tried samples of the pods and agree they are delicious, especially the latte but I won't fork out for expensive packs. OR the machine!

I would love a coffee machine though with a milk frothing device!! Just don't have room in the home for it.

I just bought it for the timer really! I was happy with my previous DeLonghi coffee pot which worked great until it... Well, didn't! It didn't have a timer though so I took advantage of the situation and replaced it with that Philips which does.

Now I can set it to brew about 15-30 minutes before I'm going to wake up so I awake to a full pot of coffee!!

Re: Coffee anyone?

I do love my coffee if I am having instant then i like Douwe Egberts and if I am putting the perk on then I usually use Taylors of Harrogate Lazy Sunday.

My machine is a DeLonghi one. When my last one broke I tried a new fancy one that said it would do all sorts but found it too difficult to deal with so went and bought another DeLonghi cannot go wrong.

Re: Coffee anyone?

Well I think the secret is to warm all your jugs and cups, before brewing.
Then make sure you clean a rinse everything immediately, and dry it all off, it doesn't take long, just getting into a routine.
I think that is why so many of these machines are a one day wonder.
Had a bit of luck today, Douwe Egberts no 5 for 99p a packet in the pound shop, I got myself a stock.

Re: Coffee anyone?

Hardly ever touch the stuff. Coffee is bad for you as it contains caffeine which can make you hyper-active, most especially if you have high cholesterol, and it can raise the blood pressure.

On the rarest of occasions I'll have a cup, but it has to be Douwe Egbert's because all other jarred coffees are disgusting to my taste buds and give me stomach ache.

It would also be interesting to know how many of these hots drinks people consume during the course of a day.

I only drink tea, but it has to be strong, very little milk but {{guilty}} three sugars. However, I never have more than four cups a day.

When I went to America five years ago I took my own tea bags with me, and was very glad I did, because their tea tastes like cat pee!

Arthur matey - Tea??? - ergh yuk!!! - have been a coffee drinker for more than 55 years.

Mollie darlin' I don't know you're aware of it, but since you decry coffee because it contains caffeine, so too does tea (albeit not as much).
