Red or brown, why and where?

Bacon/sausage sarnie - brown every time
scrambled eggs - tomato
black pudding tomato
fried bread tomato
grilled cheese on toast brown/brown pickle/worcester
cheese on crackers etc brown but also tomato chilli combo
lamb stew brown

I have a step brother who always refused gravy and put tomato sauce on everything, including a roast dinner, now that is going a bit too far yeah?

I have a sister who used to put tomato ketchup on everything including apple pie and custard !

Not a sauce person myself quite happy with the food plain.

I hate tomato ketchup and only have it in the house in case of fox poo.

I like HP sauce on cheese on toast and bacon .

Re: Red or brown, why and where?

Like you Meg I detest tomato sauce. Now for some reason I love fresh and tinned tomatoes, but just the thought of tomato ketchup makes me want to heave. How anyone could adulterate lovely tasting food with something so ghastly I can't imagine.

As for HP sauce, on rare occasions maybe just a hint on fried spuds or cheese on toast but never enough to mask the flavour of the main event..

To each their own poison though of course, but to my mind bottled sauces are just to cover the flavour of something you don't like, so why eat it in the first place..

That would explain my sister we all suffered mums cooking when she could be bothered and a bottle of ketchup saved many a meal.

My Dad put HP sauce on everything! If my brother and I looked at the bottle of sauce, she would scowl at us!

I quite like sauce though. With hot dogs I like French mustard and ketchup, bacon sandwich it has to be HP - don't think I eat it with anything else, not that I can think of offhand anyway.

Hi Barrie, I love the taste of bacon and eggs but HP sauce, for me, enhances that taste.
