And some crunchy sprinkles on top of the custard? They really make those tarts, those crunchy sprinkles do!

Re: Hands Up! Who Likes Bakewell Tarts?

Ok reading through the thread it's clear we need to show people what Bakewell Pudding is. It is NOT in any sense a Bakewell Tart nor should it ever be confused with one.

Also note that a Bakewell Pudding is NOT what local Bakewell people call a Bakewell Tart.

So, listen up . . .

This is a Bakewell Pudding:

This is what it looks like inside:

The ingredients are similar to a Bakewell Tart but not quite the same and as you can see it's a very different thing.

Both Tart and Pudding taste lovely of course, both almondy and sweet.

Hope that helps

That looks a bit like a Maids of Honour tart.

Hi Art, apologies I missed this post earlier.

No, I've never tried making a Bakewell Tart and am mostly an Artisan bread enthusiast but I do occasionally bake nice treats such as these:

These are Spelt Cantuccinis with cranberries, white chocolate and homemade candied peel. Made with spelt flour rather than the usual plain/self raising baking flour for better nutritional value.

These are Almond Rhondo's which are crumbly/chewy almondy tasting bundles of pure yumminess. Picture here is from a great website which I will mention below.

And these are Sprouted Spelt Cinnamon Rolls, again for added nutrition and I use about 1/4 of the sugar that the recipe calls for as they are plenty sweet enough.

If you love baking new and different things then I recommend you take a look at this website

https://www.weekendbakery.com

It has a great selection of bread recipes and lots of sweet baking treat recipes. They are in the Netherlands so you get some lovely different ideas. Their Christmas recipes are great.

Enjoy.

Twink, l am Sorry, l didn’t reply sooner but l am up to my elbows in almond sponge mixture, jam and pastry.
I have made 2,500 Bakewell Tarts so far, so that’s just another 6000 to go!

I don’t fancy custard on them... that’s not proper Bakewell Tart!
