The longest I worked in one company was 17 years, that was working in Accounts.

I worked for my employer for 37 years and 7 months, cos they were good payers, I did several different jobs within the company took early retirement in 2002. My father also worked for the same company but only managed 36 years and 6 months.

My last job before retirement lasted 24 years until one day I woke up and thought I have had enough so I gave four weeks notice and took the four weeks leave I was owed. The feeling of freedom was marvellous and still makes me smile.

I wish I could afford to be free so, short of winning a substantial amount on the lottery, I'll have to carry on working. Besides, it gets me out of the house, I get to chat to folk, and meet people, so it's not all bad.
