Battery Powered Lawnmowers.

Does anyone have one of these ? I'm thinking of getting one as my hover mower is quite heavy to handle and has to be carried to where I want to use it.

I've not looked at them Alan, but you should be able to get the specifications online, but there might not be much difference in weight...

There's one I have in mind Barry, I just wonder how long the battery lasts, some of them deteriorate quite quickly and are expensive to replace.

Don't the battery ones still need to be carried or do you snap your fingers and it follows you

Hi Val, I could carry it if I chose to but, as it has wheels, I think I prefer to wheel it along.

Re: Battery Powered Lawnmowers.

Amateur Gardening magazine did a test on four battery mowers in June.

1) Ryobi (pixmania-pro.co.uk) £348 marked 19 out of 20
Produced good finish, height of cut easy to adjust, grass box good size.

2) CEL-UK DM20 (cel-uk.com) £395 marked 15 out of 20
Good for long grass but hindered by its heavy weight and poor manoeuvrability.

3) Viking MA339 (vikingmowers.co.uk) £540 marked 16 out of 20
Plastic polymer, rigied grass box. Good finish but height adjustment was a chore to use.
Bit pricey but appears to be built to last.

4) BOSCH Rotak 37 Li Ergoflex (Boschpowertools.co.uk) £399 marked 20 out of 20
Wheels are inset, enables mowing right up to flower beds without machine slipping into them.
Good value for a well designed machine, good range of features.

Hope this helps

I learnt to swear by trying to start a pig of a Hover mower,it had a mind of its own and would only start if it wanted too, it had one of those damned pull strings things.
