Re: What defines love????

Massive subject Sweetie......
There are many different types of 'love' ....
Love for a spouse
Love for your children
Love for your brother
Love for your pet
Love for your best friend
Love for inanimate objects [car, watch, mobile phone, clothing, jewelry, art]
Love of yourself
Love of money
Love of nature
The list is endless, but is love sometimes mistaken for;
Lust
control
gratification
envy

I've been married 47 years but haven't got a clue what the magic ingredient is....
Probably too content and lazy to look elsewhere....

I agree with all that Foxy, there certainly is more than one kind of love, and love can mean different things to different people.

Re: What defines love????

It's spotting his walk in a crowd and starting to smile.
Giggling at some private slang only you two understand.
Checking his back for a rogue mole or itchy patch
Watching some TV programme that bores you stiff because he likes it
Remembering something from 50 years ago and arguing about the details
Criticising each other but leaping to their defence if someone else does.
Wishing you could take on their pain when they're ill
Hoping that you die before them (maybe that one's just my prayer).

That defines love for me.
