Corbyn has Lost.

Hi

I simply do not get what is going on at the moment.

Corbyn and his Marxist Policies have been dumped big time, including many lifelong Labour Voters

Myself included.

Democracy is crucial, we voted Leave so we must do.

I do not like Boris, he is a rich Elitist and also a proven liar.

The lesson that the majority would rather have Boris than Corbyn and Co seems to have been lost

Unfortunately the elitist Labour chattering classes have not learnt the lesson.

We have the Tories for at least a decade now.

Boris has grown on me, if he gets us out of the EU without further procrastination I will like him even more .

I wasn't voting for a man last week, I was voting for a manifesto commitment and a fulfilment of the referendum results.

I agree Meg.
He has grown on me, too.

We'll have to see what happens.

Never be fooled by Boris's bumbling delivery, he is a very intelligent person. I mean who would have thought that another election just before Christmas would have made any difference let alone go in the Tories' favour. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Re: Corbyn has Lost.

Corbyn deserved to lose - he and his Momentum led party have no connection with their core voters any more.

I have lived through (survived?) four Labour governments. Without fail, each one has brought the country to its knees either through ineptitude or failed financial policies. Corbyn and crew would have led us down the same path to bankruptcy.

At least you know what to expect. A bit of austerity for that part of the population that can do without it.

The year before Labour came to power in 1997, the deficit was 3% of GDP and the debt was 37% of GDP. Labour's first few term saw both measures fall, while during Labour's second and third terms they returned to pretty much their state in 1996/97.

Then the onset of the financial crisis saw debt and deficit increase dramatically. The deficit increased from nearly 3% of GDP in 2007/08 to 10% in 2009/10 - a peacetime high. The debt increased from 34% of GDP to 63% of GDP.

Since 2010 under the coalition and Conservative governments, the deficit has fallen considerably and is expected to be 1.3% of GDP this year (2019/20). However debt has continued to increase from 63% of GDP in 2009/10 and is expected to be over 82% this year.

Re: Corbyn has Lost.

Some of our memories go back further than 1997. Some even back as far as 1976 when Dennis Healey went cap in hand to the IMF. Some even beyond that, and we all remember 'The Winter of Discontent' don't we?
